Pillow Beds

2012-11-06 20.01.09

For Christmas, the Bays make homemade gifts for one person in the family. I chose Brynn’s name and Spencer chose Claire’s name. So I decided to make them both pillow beds! I used this tutorial:

2012-11-07 12.47.11

I think they turned out great! I was excited.

2012-11-07 14.53.41

The boys tested them out.

2012-11-07 20.04.36

Maybe someday I’ll make Spencer one.

I will miss being able to cuddle him while he sleeps. Precious little man.

2012-11-19 16.48.39

My best friend, Brynn, came to SLC!! I was so excited when she called for a surprise visit. Spencer loved hanging out with Corwin. He is 10 weeks older than Spencer. I loved talking to Brynn again! I can’t believe we didn’t get a picture together.

2012-11-22 11.38.25

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! We had a pretty low-key day here at home. Jon and Anna came over with the boys. Mom made us delicious food. And we felt so grateful all day long. We are very blessed to live in such a comfortable home, surrounded by family. Life is great. We are thankful.

2012-11-24 17.26.48

Tom and I were asked to plan the Ward Christmas party. Here are the posters that we made. We ended up having to alter it all, because the breakfast was changed to a dinner. Boy, was I glad when it was all over.

2012-11-24 17.41.02

I love this little cuddle-bug.

November 11-17, 2012

Jimmy was leaving for his mission to Accra, Ghana at the end of November – so we had an open house for all of his friends and family to say goodbye. It turned out to be quite the event! Jimmy has a lot of people who love him and are proud of him.

No-Shave November #2

2012-11-12 19.58.55

We love to play and laugh.2012-11-14 09.44.16

Another Driving Sales Friday Potluck. We love his team.

2012-11-16 19.35.28

We FINALLY tested out Beefalo Burgers! There is a place here in Riverton that makes them. It was pretty good – but basically just tasted like a normal hamburger, just a little thicker. The ice cream was delicious, though!

2012-11-16 20.34.09

Testing out the puppets with the little guy. He likes them well enough. 🙂

The E-Myth

The E-Myth Revisited

I was able to read several books in July, and this was one of them:

The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don’t Work and What to Do About It

by Michael E. Gerber

This is one of my favorite books I’ve read in a while. It walks through a narrative of a consultant (Gerber, the author) talking to a stressed and struggling small-business owner. Gerber uses personal experience and case studies to explain the basics of the entrepreneurial game and the small-business world. He focuses on three core roles that must be filled: the Entrepreneur, the Manager and the Technician.

I think that The E-Myth (E is for Entrepreneur) is one of those rare “simple, yet profound” works that contains foundational business basics that will stand the test of time. I found myself highlighting passages and writing notes in the margins. Many epiphaneous moments were had with exclamations like, “Of course that’s how you should do that!” or “oops… I’ve been doing that wrong…” A wonderful read for anyone that has interest in business or aspirations to ‘start something’ some day.

Spencer has some big shoes to fill.

2012-11-10 20.06.49

Such a doll. Literally. We play with him all the time, like a little doll.

November 1-3, 2012

Happy November! To start the month on the right foot, Tom shaved his beard off in honor of No-Shave November. It is for cancer awareness, and a lot of the guys at work were participating.

Working outside with dad! They are building a shed on the side of the house.

2012-11-03 20.43.02
